The TARA AGC-4 Automatic Gate Controller is part of a complete system for BMX gate control. The modular approach of the TARA family of products allows you to build the type of system that suits your needs. It also allows your TARA system to grow with your track. Start with the AGC-4, then add a Light Stand and an Air Gate to form a complete system. The AGC-4 offers a complete set of Voice capabilities with a digitized starter, a built in microphone and an electronic horn. There are 1/4" Audio Jacks for two speakers that can be connected to the back of the unit, to the top of the Four-Light or Two-Light Stand or placed anywhere around the gate if a separate extension cable is used. This gives you the ability to place the sound source around the gate in such a way as to optimize the audio amplification for all eight riders on the gate. The all black enclosure is made from heavy gage steel and measures approximately 12x8.5x4.5 inches. The optional Speaker boxes measure 6.5x6.5x4.

The main function of the AGC-4 is to drop the gate to start the race. You can use the AGC-4 with gates which are operated by air cylinders or by electro-magnets (with a special power converter).

When an air cylinder is used, a multi-mode 120 VAC GATE Outlet controls the gate. In the up/down mode, the outlet is on until the green light activates. This turns off the outlet, dropping the gate. A reset switch (mounted on the unit hand control) turns the outlet back on, raising the gate. If the outlet is operated in the up only mode, the outlet will be on only when the reset switch is depressed. This mode provides the proper power for an up-only air cylinder.

The AGC-4 provides an output suitable to start the AMBit timing system used by UCI for timing races. It also provides an output for our practice timing system which starts on the green light and stops when one runs over either a stop pad or with some added cost through an infrared beam depending on what you need.

Each race is started with a removable/replaceable hand control connected to the AGC-4 through a 25-foot cable. Located on the hand control is a start switch, a gate-reset switch, and a microphone with an activation switch. When the start switch is used, the AGC-4 plays digitized voice commands through the speaker or audio output Jacks. If required by your league, the AGC-4 will also use an electronic horn during the starting sequence. The built-in microphone offers a convenient way of addressing the riders.

To help the riders get off to the best possible start, an external Light Stand is used. The TARA Light Stand is available in two versions: A four light Red-Yellow-Yellow-Green and a two light Red-Green. Depending on the requirements of your league, the AGC-4 can be set to operate either Light Stand. Both types have a Speaker Jack on the back so that a speaker can be placed by or on the Light Stand.

The AGC-4 can be ordered as a 115 VAC or a 230 VAC unit (50 or 60 Hz). This is a factory setting and is not changeable by the user.
