TARA Controls provide two types of electromagnets for BMX gate control: The 12.5 inch diameter model 1250 is used with stiff gates which only require one magnet. A pair of the 8.25 inch diameter model 825 are used for gates which are flexible enough to require two magnets. Both types of electromagnets work with any TARA automatic gate control. When used with a low carbon, mild steel plate (mounted on the gate), these magnets provide a very reliable and safe way of dropping the gate. Safety is further increased by using only low voltage (12 VDC) for magnet control. The model 1250 requires 4.5 A of DC current for proper operation, while the model 825 will operate with 4.2 A of DC current. These Electromagnets will not operate on AC voltage and must be used with a 12 VDC supply voltage.

In order to provide the lowest possible cost to a track which has the capability to design and manufacture their own gate, the TARA Electromagnets are sold without any additional hardware. However, TARA can also provide a complete installation kit for each Electromagnet. The choice is Yours.
